Hild's Two Goals Lifts Shenandoah Over Averett

WINCHESTER, Va. - Karen Hild scored a pair of goals for the Shenandoah University women's soccer team, as the Hornets defeated Averett by a 4-1 final Saturday.

The Cougars (3-8, 1-3 USA South) were out shot by the Hornets (5-4, 1-2 USA South) by a 36-5 tally. Averett goalkeeper Shelia Nichols had 19 saves for the Cougars in the match.

Hild scored the match's first goal only 5:49 into the contest. Five minutes later Leanne Gibson added another goal to give Shenandoah the 2-0 lead. Hild then scored in the game's 14th minute on a Heather Lethbridge assist for a 3-0 advantage that stood up the entire first half.

Dee Moyer put the Cougars on the board in the 77th minute on a free kick over a wall of teammates. The score drew Averett to within 3-1, but a Shannon Revels goal four minutes later put the Hornets out of reach with the 4-1 final margin.
