Robertson Named Player of the Week
DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University's Lindsay Robertson was named the USA South Conference's women's soccer Player of the Week Monday by conference commissioner Rita Wiggs.
Robertson, a midfielder and former George Washington High School standout, was awarded the honor after scoring a pair of goals during Averett's 3-2 victory over Ferrum on Saturday. She has three goals on the season to go along with an assist for seven points.
This season Robertson made the transition from goalkeeper, where she played most of last season, to midfield to provide more offense for the Cougars. The move has worked out well for both Robertson and Averett, as they are off to a 3-4 record, including a 1-0 USA South mark. It is the best start in the program's history.
It is the second time an Averett women's soccer player has been honored as the Player of the Week, as Dee Moyer received the honor during the season's opening week.
Robertson and the Cougars will look to improve to 4-4 Wednesday when they travel to Methodist for a USA South Conference showdown. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start.
