Knights Race Past Averett DANVILLE, Va. - The Averett University women's soccer team gave up four second half goals, while losing to Southern Virginia by a 6-1 final Tuesday. Jessica Jordan gave Averett (3-7) a 1-0 lead two minutes into the match on an assisted goal from Lindsay Robertson. The Cougars maintained that lead until Shawna Gunn scored for SVU (7-1) in the 28th minute. Three minutes later, the Knights took the lead for good on a Susie Jex goal. Jex added a pair of second half scores and Heather Butler and Lindsie Butler each scored for the final margin. Sheila Nichols had six saves for Averett. |
