Transfer Student Orientation

Monday, August 20th

8:00am - 8:30am:   Blount Chapel (Frith Hall)
Check-In
All new transfer students should plan to check-in for the day during this time.   You will get your schedule for the day, meet some of our current students, enjoy a continental breakfast and begin to get some of the questions you have answered. 

8:30am - 9:00am:   Blount Chapel (Frith Hall)
Welcome& Opening Session
Welcome from members of the AU administration and an overview of the day.

9:00am - 10:00am:   (207 Frith Hall)
Math Placement Exam/Foreign Language Placement Exam
Last chance to do your assessments!   Students who did not complete the math placement exam or the foreign language exam before arriving to campus have one last chance to take the assessment.

10:30am - 11:30am:   Blount Chapel (Frith Hall)
On Course At Averett
What should you expect as an AU student?   This session will provide important information from our faculty and student success professionals to help you be better prepared for the first day of classes and get you on the path toward success.

11:30am - 12:30pm:   Blount Chapel (Frith Hall)
Student Life Information Session
Marsha Foster, Director of Residence Life and Bill Woodward, Dean of Students will fill you in on what to expect over the coming months at AU. Parking, meal plans and policies, oh my!   This session will cover some of the basic things that you need to know during your time at Averett University.

12:30pm - 1:30pm:   Dining Hall (Student Center)
Lunch
Take a break, kick back, and enjoy the great food on campus with our Orientation Leaders!

1:00pm - 4:00pm:   Various Locations
Academic Advising Appointments
As you check-in you will be assigned an appointment during the afternoon with your advisor.   This is an opportunity for you to sit down with your advisor, go through your plan of study, and get your classes for the fall semester lined up.
