Where Do You Want to Go?
Semester or year abroad programs are available through Averett and its affiliates.  Special arrangements are available in Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Finland.  Equestrian students may wish to consider the University of Limerick’s Equine Science Program in Ireland.  French and Spanish students should consult with their professors about recommended countries.  In addition, Averett faculty regularly offer special travel courses through various departments.  Students interested in study abroad should contact the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences in 107 Main

Study Abroad Opportunities

Averett University is pleased to announce study abroad agreements with Dundee University in Dundee, Scotland and Trinity College University of Wales. Averett students may take courses for one or two semesters at these institutions and transfer credit hours to Averett.

Dundee’s promotional brochure for study abroad students states: “We offer a unique and challenging education mixed with a broad range of extra-curricular activities and clubs. From the classroom to the dance floor we’ve got something that’ll suit your taste. Our slogan is ‘Serious Fun’ and we intend to live up to it.”

Study Abroad Scholarship

The Barksdale Study Abroad Fund was established by Mary Morten Barksdale for Averett students who wish to study in a foreign country. The recipient must be a full-time student with 60 or more credits and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Interested students can apply to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
