Athletic Training Intern

Averett University is seeking applicants for a six-month internship (paid part time nonexempt temporary position). Sports assignment may include baseball, softball, men’s and women’s lacrosse.  Duties include travel, providing prevention and care for assigned teams, medical documentation, assisting in supervision of the athletic training room operations, communicating with coaches and team physicians, and other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

  • Start date January 1, 2019. End date May 10,2019

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training program NATABOC Certification,
  • current CPR, AED & First Aid Certification,
  • eligible for state licensure
  • Playing or coaching experience at the college, university or professional level.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill

Additional Preferred

  • Master’s Degree

Travel and ADA related information:

  • Ability to life up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of objects
  • Requires standing and/or walking more than 4 hours a day. Reaching, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and moving equipment and furniture may be required.
  • Work may involve exposure to environmental elements such as extreme temperatures, wind, rain/snow, odors
  • Occasional Travel with teams.

May work irregular hours including some evenings and weekends.

If the intern is going to drive on behalf of Averett, they have to have a clean driving record and meet the University’s standards for becoming an authorized driver
