Tomorrow, May 14, the Alumni Office will recognize alumni who have been named Educator of the Year at their schools during a reception at Dr. Franks’ house. This year, 21 alumni will be recognized.

Nicole Barringer ’15, who majored in Criminal Justice/Sociology and minored in Communications, will be continuing at Averett as the Assistant Volleyball Coach. During her time at Averett, Nicole was a three-year captain of the volleyball team, first team all-conference, American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-South Region, AVCA All-American, NCAA national SAAC member, Averett SAAC president, Bishop Award Winner, four-time academic all-conference, 2014 Frank Campbell Sportsmanship Award winner, and the 2015 Barbara Kushubar Female Athlete of the Year winner. Welcome back, Nicole!

bookstoreBookstore Summer Hours

The Schoolfield House Booksellers is beginning its summer hours, which are as follows: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-2 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday. The bookstore will be open Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 as well as Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 for new student orientation.

There are a few more days left to nominate someone for Staff Council. Nominations are due this Friday (May 15). If there is someone you think would be a good addition to Staff Council, please submit their name to [email protected] or to Staff Council President Donna Benz. Voting will begin on Thursday, May 21 and end Monday, June 15. The four new Staff Council members will be announced at the June 18 staff meeting.
