poole_bertA Warm Averett Welcome Is Extended To:

Bert Poole, who has been named our new Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach. Bert joins us from Division II University of Mount Olive where he had served as the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach since 2012. Following the 2015 season he was named Division II Men’s Tennis Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. To learn more about Bert, click here.

Averett University’s Director of Athletics Meg Stevens is pleased to announce that Cornelius Snow IV is the new Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Head Coach. On Thursday, August 6, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., there will be another Service-Learning Brain Pick-nic in the sunroom of the bookstore. The topic for this week’s Brain Pick-nic is: “Hello, My Name Is Service-Learning: How to Introduce Service-Learning to Your Class.” Bring your lunch and a penchant for fun!

All faculty and staff will gather Thursday, Aug. 13 for our annual opening festivities. Following is the schedule for the day:

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Lunch Buffet, Dining Hall

12:30-1 p.m. – Dessert, Frith Fine Arts Center Lobby

1-2 p.m. – Opening Session for all faculty and staff, Pritchett Auditorium, Frith Fine Arts Center

2:15-3:15 – Preparing for upcoming SACSOC reaffirmation process (for faculty and Leadership Forum), Pritchett Auditorium

4-6 p.m. – Reception for faculty/staff, spouses and guests, hosted by Tiffany and Joe Franks, President’s Home (500 Hawthorne Drive)

Faculty, you have already received a mailing from Dr. Tim Fulop providing you with the complete schedule and additional opening information. All new faculty and staff, you have received information from Kathie Tune, Director of Human Resources, with information about your orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Remember, you will be officially welcomed and pinned at the Opening Session on Aug. 13.
