According to Averett cheerleading head coach Angie Bowers, the event was good for both the squad and the university.

“People were asking where Averett was located and how many students we had,” Bowers said. “It served as great publicity for both the team and the school.”

All 12 members of the program participated in the event where they were asked to hold the flags representing the different countries of the participating racers. The event was covered both nationally and internationally, giving Averett additional exposure.
