Averett Announces Graduate Nursing Program, Becomes One of Only 13 in Nation to Offer Emergency Nurse Practitioner Certification

Averett University yesterday announced the addition of a new graduate-level nursing program launching in 2020. This addition is part of the university’s largest expansion into health sciences education in its history.

The Master of Science in Nursing degree program will offer two focus areas: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP). Averett is one of only 13 schools in the country, and the only in Virginia and neighboring North Carolina, to offer a focus in ENP education — advanced, specialized training that prepares nurses for some of the most highly-respected and well-paid nursing positions available. Also unique to the program, Averett will secure clinical placements for all nurse practitioner students.

Summer Art and Design Intensive Camp

Is your child interested in art? Averett will be hosting a Summer Art and Design Intensive camp July 22-26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The camp costs $225 including supplies. Students will investigate art from masters and contemporary artists and learn lighting, posing and wardrobe selections to create digital and dry media self-portraits. Inspiration will come from local and global architecture from the creation of three-dimensional projects.

During the camp, students should bring their lunch with them. Light snacks will be provided. Drop off will be at Pritchett auditorium Monday through Thursday. Drop off and pick up on Friday will be communicated once the camp begins. To register, print off and fill out this registration form and return to Mary Sullivan.

Just a reminder that IT will be performing necessary upgrades to both PowerCampus and the PowerCampus database server beginning Sunday, July 14, concluding Wednesday, July 16. During this period, expect outages for the following: PowerCampus, Self-service, intranet, CashNet, and all Report Manager reports and MS Access databases that link to PowerCampus. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kevin Lipscomb at klipscomb@averett.edu.
