Averett IHSA Secures Regional Reserve Champion Team

BLACKSBURG, Va. — On the second day of the Virginia Tech IHSA show, Averett University secured Regional Reserve Champion Team for the Zone Four Region 5 area. Averett was the high point team for three of the seven shows this season beating out some of the toughest competition around.

Juniors Zuri Lamper and Kathleen Nettnin were our top riders for the day both winning their classes. Adeline Bova and Hailey Brown had the two second-place ribbons and Hannah Walters, Kristen Kelley, and Brittany Leonard earned the third-place spots.

In the open division, Brown placed second in over fences and sixth in the flat. Dana Ellwenger was fifth in the flat class. In Intermediate, Lamper won her over fences class and Ellwenger placed fourth. Walters, in the flat, placed third. In novice flat, Kelley placed third, and Cary Carrington placed fourth. Novice over fences consisted of two fourth-place ribbons earned by Kelley and Nichole Cannon, and Sam Dobbins with a sixth-place spot. In beginner walk trot, junior Kiersten Estes placed fourth and Bova in beginner walk trot canter got second. Lastly in advanced walk trot canter, Nettnin won her class, Leonard placed third, and Amanda Schoenfeld finished fifth.
