Averett University partnered with the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) and General Motors to host more than 50 seventh-graders from Danville Public Schools’ Activ8 Academy for a Motorsports STEM Day in Carrington Gym on the university’s main campus on Friday, Aug. 21.

After check-in and a quick snack, students were split into three groups that rotated through three modules – wind tunnel, spheros (robot), and tire – led by GM employees. After the modules (about 45 minutes each) students enjoyed a buffet-style lunch in the Cougar Den (student dining hall). After completing the morning activities, the students departed campus to travel to VIR for more activities. This is VIR’s IMSA Weekend.
