Averett University and Piedmont Community College (PCC) are pleased to announce the signing of an articulation agreement that will make the transition from PCC’s registered nursing program to Averett’s RN to BSN program seamless and smooth.

“We are very excited about this new agreement with Piedmont Community College,” said Dr. Timothy Fulop, Averett’s vice president for academic affairs and student success. “We believe this is a great opportunity for Averett to serve the region in assisting registered nurses in their pursuit of a bachelor of science in nursing degree. The BSN degree will provide the education needed for individuals to move into leadership roles within their organizations. This agreement highlights the excellent work of PCC in providing a strong foundation for their registered nursing students.”

Per the agreement, Averett will guarantee acceptance (as space is available) to Piedmont Community College students who earn an associate in applied science degree in nursing with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher and submit a completed application, official transcript and RN license number verification. Students who meet these requirements can transfer 58 nursing credits.

“Piedmont Community College has a proud history of providing a high-quality healthcare workforce for the Triangle and Triad regions in North Carolina,” commented Dr. Joyce Johnson, PCC’s vice president for instruction and student development. “This articulation agreement is yet another step we are taking to broaden our relationship with Averett University. The agreement provides a clear path for the students who graduate from Piedmont Community College’s registered nursing program and want to extend their education in the healthcare field. These types of innovative and collaborative partnerships between community colleges and senior-level institutions can help address the challenge to increase the numbers of highly trained, ethical, quality health care professionals.”

At Averett, students will pursue a bachelor of science in nursing through the University’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) Program. They will be required to have a total of at least 120 semester hours, 30 hours of which must be completed at Averett.
