The Wendell Scott Foundation was established in 2010 to honor Wendell Oliver Scott .Sr, who was the first African-American stock car driver to win a race in the Winston Cup Series and a 2015 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee. The Wendell Scott Foundation is a 501 c(3) nonprofit organization created to provide youth services including job-skill training, cultural enrichment, STEAM educational opportunities and other supportive services to at-risk, underserved youths between the ages of 8 – 18 years . Warrick Scott has appeared in several film projects focused on his grandfather’s legacy including a Storycorps/PBS animated short film “Driven”. In 2017, he was also featured on Disney Pixar’s Cars 3 DVD, and was one of the creative influences behind the “River Scott” character, based on his grandfather.
