DANVILLE, Va. (Aug. 6, 2026) — Averett University introduced its 17th president, Dr. Tatia Daniels Granger, during a press conference on Thursday in Main Hall’s Welcome Center.
Granger was introduced by Emma Maddux Kozlowski, chair of Averett’s Board of Trustees.
“In the short time that I’ve been exploring Averett, I have come to know and appreciate much of what you heard our chair describe as an incredible spirit around this institution. And I’m really, really excited to be a part of it. It’s a place with a special story, and I love a good story.”
Kozlowski said the Board of Trustees sought the right fit while seeking Averett’s next president.
“We were looking for someone who understood what makes Averett ‘Averett,’” Kozlowski said. “In Dr. Granger, we found her. What stood out most was not any single credential, but the way that she leads — collaboratively and with clear judgment and a genuine commitment to the people she serves.”
Granger was announced as Averett’s president on July 13 and was installed on Aug. 1.
