engaged_employersAverett University is excited to announce the Engaged Employers Initiative. Engaged Employers encourages and allows all Averett employees to take time off to volunteer for up to one full day a year. Averett expects volunteerism of our students, and is committed to making it possible for our employees to model this aspect of being a catalyst for positive change.

Getting other employers on board can help us effect very impactful change across the region. To date, several businesses have partnered with us to make a difference in our community. Those businesses are: Blair Construction, Danville-Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce, Danville Regional Foundation, Danville Regional Medical Center, Davenport Energy, Dewberry, First Piedmont, Gateway Health, Maddyzack, Noblis, Supply Resources and Wilkins & Co. Realtors.

“We are so excited about this initiative and what it will mean for the city of Danville and Pittsylvania and Caswell counties,” said Alexis Ehrhardt, executive director of The Center for Community Engagement and Career Competitiveness (CCECC). “For the past few years the Danville Regional Foundation and then Averett has hosted a Day to Engage. This spring we hosted our first ever Week to Engage, which saw more than 430 volunteers working across the region. Now, with this initiative, the positive impact we can have on our region is limitless.”

The CCECC will work with employers who are participating in the initiative by identifying service projects that accommodate one person or a whole department. Further, a volunteerism software platform, Get Connected, will be available to anyone in the region for the purpose of browsing agencies, service projects and volunteer events.

Employers who join the initiative will be listed on the Engaged Employers page of the Averett website, and there will be an electronic badge to include on their own, as evidence of membership.

Businesses interested in participating in the Engaged Employers initiative should contact Rachel Covington ([email protected] or (434) 791-7215).
