Erika Culley is a Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) student from Danville, Va. She is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in marketing. She is expected to graduate in December of 2019

What is an average day like for you in the GPS Program?

“An average day for me in the GPS program is spending time with my three-year-old son named Mega, work and schoolI don’t have to go to a class and other than textbooks, everything I need is on my laptop. So, throughout the day I am researching and completing assignments.”

Why did you decide to continue your education at Averett?

“I wanted to stay with my Averett Family. In 2009, I received my bachelor’s degree in management science from here. I had a great college experience and the quality of my education was great. It was only right for me to obtain my master’s from Averett University.”

How do you believe Averett will help you with your degree?

“I am a single mother who is employed with more than one job. Averett helps me with my degree by providing a program that accommodates my schedule. This program makes it possible for adults like me to be able work multiple jobs, spend time with family and complete class assignments on time. Obtaining my master’s degree with a concentration in marketing will put me in position to excel in my professional career.”

What do you like best about the University?

“I love how the GPS master’s program is designed. You can go at your own pace by taking one class at a time. I also love the library staff at the Danville location. They go above and beyond to keep me motivated and answer my questions in regards to guidelines and research.”

Why did you choose your path of study?

“I wanted to gain more knowledge in the business and marketing field. I have always enjoyed working in administration. In the future, I would like to open my own business and I feel this is the path of study that will help me to achieve my goal.”
