New Assistant Registrar

Katie Johnston is our new Assistant Registrar! Katie moved from Averett Central to the Registrar’s office, and we couldn’t be happier. Katie brings a wealth of experience to the position, and we look forward to her future contributions. Please congratulate Katie when you see her in her new office.

Welcome Back Assistant Professor Jane Faulkner

The Equestrian Department is excited to announce that we have lured Jane Faulkner out of retirement! Jane will be leaving cold, snowy Michigan to return to balmy Southside Virginia for the spring semester. She will be working part-time supervising students at the Equestrian Center on weekends, as well as helping out with special events and guest instructing.

AT Students take 2nd Place

Averett University’s athletic training team placed second in the Virginia Athletic Training Association (VATA) Annual Quiz Bowl on Jan. 9-10 at the VATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium, in Williamsburg. Congratulations, team!

Team members were athletic training students Brian Benitez, senior; Rhyan Scearce, senior; and Alicia Carey, senior. The faculty sponsor was Mrs. Melanie Lewis, Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator of the athletic training education program. Program Director Dr. Carrie Hendrick served as the emcee of the event.

Nine teams entered the competition, which included James Madison University, George Mason University, Radford University, Lynchburg College, Liberty University, Longwood, Bridgewater College, Shenandoah and Averett University.
