Academic Support Services
at Averett

Heading to college—or returning to college—can be a major adjustment. Fortunately, our Academic Support staff is standing by to help you adapt so that you can achieve your big dreams.

We offer free services designed to help you:

  • Learn more effective study habits
  • Manage your time
  • Make accommodation for a documented learning disability
  • Arrange testing if you suspect you have a learning disability
  • Prepare for standardized tests
  • Get extra tutoring with your courses

Tutoring at Averett

Our tutoring services are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program. Averett is one of only 820 institutions around the world to achieve this distinction.

We offer regular small-group meetings in the Galesi Family Student Success Center, and there’s no need to book an appointment. Just show up during the meeting time for your preferred subject. Contact us to find out the current tutoring schedule.

Special Learning Needs

Students with documented special needs have rights. You can read more about your rights here, or schedule an appointment to talk to the Director of the Galesi Student Success Center in person.

If you suspect you have a learning disability, we can help arrange testing. Contact us to make an appointment to discuss your situation.

Make-Up Exams

If you miss an examination and are offered the opportunity for a make-up exam, an Academic Support Tutor will often be your exam proctor. Contact the Director for more information.
