Averett University offers a range of majors in Biological and Physical Science, any of which can form the foundation of a career in the life sciences. Whether your interest includes environmental conservation or medical research, our Biological Science degree program has a major that should interest you. Graduates of our program can prepare for careers in:

Additionally, Averett has an articulation agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) that enables successful graduates of our programs who earn a 3.0 GPA while at Averett to gain automatic acceptance into the Master’s in Clinical Laboratory Science at VCU.
Concentration Areas – Biological and Physical Science
Averett offers six concentration areas in the Biological Sciences that combine theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory, clinical, or professional teaching skills:
- Biomedical Sciences – Focuses on Biology, with additional courses in Chemistry and Physics;
- Environmental Studies – Focuses on Biology, with additional courses in Chemistry;
- Biology/Chemistry – Places equal emphasis on Biology and Chemistry, with additional courses in Physics and Mathematics;
- Medical Technology – Combines Biology and Chemistry with a clinical year at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia;
- Radiologic Technology – Two-year Bachelor’s completion program for current licensed radiology technicians that includes Statistics, Biology, and Zoology;
