International Student Admissions

Averett University is proud of our diverse learning community. Students representing more than 19 different countries study on our campus, participating in a valuable cultural exchange while also acquiring an excellent education.

To meet the needs of international students, our admissions office has a dedicated admissions counselor who works with you from the beginning of the application process. Additional support includes:

  • Assistance with immigration regulations
  • Campus orientation programs specifically for you
  • Cultural and social events that introduce you to Averett and American culture

How to Apply

To apply for admission to Averett University as an International Student, you must be able to provide proof of secondary education completion and evidence that you have sufficient English language proficiency, usually through TOEFL or SAT test scores. Additionally, if you are transferring from a university outside the United States, your transcript must be evaluated on a course-by-course basis by World Education Services.

  • Submit your free online application by June 1st for fall admission or November 1st for spring admission.
  • Provide official translations for any supporting documents (e.g. diplomas, identification) not written in English.
  • Submit an official or certified copy of your secondary school transcript that indicates the courses taken and grades received. If applicable, the school leaving certificate must accompany your transcript.
  • Arrange for your TOEFL and/or SAT 1 scores be sent directly from the testing service (Averett’s code for the SAT and TOEFL is 5017). Averett requires a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper-based), 173 (computer-based), or 61 (Internet-based). The SAT will be accepted in lieu of a TOEFL if a minimum verbal score of 480 is achieved.
  • If you are transferring from a university outside the United States, you must submit an official or certified copy of your university transcript, and arrange for a course-by-course evaluation of your transcript to be completed and sent directly to Averett.

Averett only accepts evaluations from World Education Services.
