Admissions Requirements Overview

Averett University operates a selective admissions policy to ensure that the students who enroll with us have the best chance of success in our programs. On this page, you can read a general overview of requirements for various students.

First-Time Freshmen

  • Minimum SAT score for admission: 850 (with a minimum 370 reading score)
  • Minimum ACT score for admission: 17 (with a minimum 14 reading score)
  • Minimum High School GPA for admission is 2.5

Transfer Students

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 (Grade C) or better in all courses to be considered for transfer credit

Graduate and Professional Studies Students

Adult students seeking admission to the GPS program must demonstrate:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 in prior high school or college coursework for undergraduate programs
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at the undergraduate level for Master’s programs
  • Evidence of current teaching license for M.Ed. program candidates
  • Proof of at least two years’ full-time work experience in the form of a résumé with dates of employment
