Traditional Undergraduate Requirements

Traditional first-time freshmen enrolling at Averett directly out of high school must meet the following requirements for admission:

Standardized Test Scores – SAT and ACT

SAT Scores:

  • Minimum score: 850 with reading score of at least 370
  • Average score of enrolled students: 954

ACT Composite Scores:

  • Minimum Score: 17, with reading score of at least 14
  • Average score of enrolled students: 20

High School Grade Point Average (GPA)

  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Average GPA of enrolled students: 3.16 on a 4.0 scale

Required High School Courses

We select students with well-rounded high school transcripts. During grades 9-12, you must have completed:

  • 4 English courses
  • 3 Mathematics courses (college preparatory level)
  • 3 Laboratory Sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
  • 3 History and Social Science courses

We also accept college placement credits through dual enrollment, the International Baccalaureate examination, Advanced Placement tests, and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests.

International students

will need to undergo a credential evaluation to prove they have met a standard of performance equivalent to the requirements above.
