Safeguarding Customer Information

Averett University takes its obligations to safeguard the personal information of our university community stakeholders:  students, parents, employees, and other stakeholders (such as donors) seriously.

We maintain a comprehensive information security program that includes administrative, technical, and physical safeguards around the access, collection, distribution, processing, protection, storage, use, transmittal, and disposal of such personal and sensitive information.  These safeguards are designed to insure the security and confidentiality of the customer information, protects against anticipated threats or hazards, and protects against unauthorized access to or use of the information that could result in harm to these stakeholders.

The Director of Information Technology Services and his/her designees are responsible for the coordination of the information security program.  The program engages in regular: risk assessment and prevention activities; safeguard testing and monitoring; evaluation and adjustment of the program; and exercises reasonable oversight of the safeguards used by outside service providers.
