2015cans_conferenceCans Across the Conference

In the spirit of giving back and recognizing blessings bestowed, Averett University collected 12,146 items to win the USA South’s Cans Across the Conference — this is the first time the university has won the annual contest.

Members of Averett’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) organized the event in an effort to improve the holidays for many of the less fortunate members of the Danville community. The food items will be donated to God’s Storehouse in Danville. Our canned good collection was the third-most garnered in a single year by an institution over the course of the competition.

“It’s always good to help others, and hopefully with our donations we will be able to help a lot of people in the Danville community,” Averett SAAC President Samm Chandler said. “It’s very exciting to help Averett win Cans Across the Conference for the first time. I’m even more excited that we donated so many cans to an organization that helps those in need.”

main_hallNew Logo to be Unveiled

Over the past 12 months the university has been working on designing a new logo; and we’re excited to announce that the new look will be unveiled at the faculty and staff meetings in January. The university will gradually transition to the new logo as new items (letterhead, giveaways, brochures, etc.) need to be printed. The old logo will be phased out by July 2016.

If you will be printing or ordering something with the logo on it, please contact Buddy Rawley, vice president for institutional advancement, at 434-791-5654 in order to determine which logo should be used. In addition, contact Buddy if you have any questions.
