Averett’s Cougar Express offers free transportation service from the Main Campus to our North Campus. The Cougar Express operates Monday – Friday at specific scheduled times when classes are in session. The bus stops at the corner of Woodland Drive and Townes Street (Main Campus-Jut’s Cafe) and at the North Campus Grant Center classroom entrance. Special YMCA trips are scheduled as well. Please check your student email often. AU transportation services reservers the right to cancel any route that does not have ridership.

The Averett Cougar Express service offers bus service at the times on the schedule from Main Campus at Jut’s at Woodland Drive to the Averett Flight Center Building at the Danville Regional Airport.


The Averett Cougar Express service allows passengers to receive express, door to door service at certain times as identified on the schedule. Please email your trip request to [email protected] up to one hour in advance of your desired boarding time. For return trips to campus, door to door service can also be provided at the designated times identified on the schedule. Please note that trip destination are limited to the city limits of Danville.


The University is pleased to be able to offer shuttle service to and from both the Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Greensboro (PTI/GSO) on selected days (the start and finish of each semester). Arrangements must be made through the Dean of Students office.

Students are asked to pay the AU transportation fee of $40.00 to the University Cashier and complete the Transportation Form as soon as travel plans are established.

AU fee is $40 each way to RDU and PTI airports.   Students must complete the transportation form at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the travel date. In the event you are traveling on days the shuttle is not available, alternative service may be secured at the Raleigh Airport by visiting or the Greensboro Airport by visiting
