Spiritual Life @ Averett

Hello and welcome to Averett’s Spiritual Life page. The Office of Spiritual Life exists as an extension of one of Averett’s core institutional values, to “embrace Averett’s Judeo-Christian heritage, by honoring the search for truth and spiritual formation”.  Headed by our University Chaplain, the Office of Spiritual Life serves as a resource for spiritual encouragement and challenging growth for all our students, regardless of faith background and perspective.  We offer a variety of clubs and programs throughout the year for worship, study, reflection, service, and fellowship, along with providing the University Chaplain as a resource for faith counseling and support.

Questions may be directed to the University Chaplain, Skyler Daniel. (sdaniel@averett.edu or 434-791-7104)

Please view our religious organizations below, followed by a list of churches within walking distance of Averett’s campus.

Christian Student Fellowship

Christian Student Fellowship is filled with people who want to be part of God’s redemptive story. We have different backgrounds and beliefs but share a common desire to love God and love one another in the way of Jesus. CSF meets each Thursday, three times a month for lunch at West Main Baptist, and once for worship in Blount Chapel.

For more information, contact Gary Tucker (gtucker@averett.edu), or the University Chaplain.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is sponsored by Christian athletes, but open to all! FCA meets weekly for worship, teaching, prayer, and fun on Thursday nights in Blount Chapel.

For more information, contact the University Chaplain.

Catholic Campus Ministry

Catholic Campus Ministry at Averett University (CCM) offers students meaningful spiritual, service and social activities. Although Catholic Campus Ministry’s primary mission is to enhance the faith experiences of Catholic students, it is strongly committed to supporting and working with all Christian groups. CCM welcomes students of all faiths at its sponsored events.

For more info, contact Joan Kahwajy-Anderson:  (434)791-5624 or jkahwajy@averett.edu or the University Chaplain.
