First Time GI Bill® Benefit User

If this is, your first time using your GI Bill® Benefits please follow the instructions listed below to get started.

  1. Apply online at va.gov (https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/ )
  2. Once the application on va.gov has been completed, the VA will send the student a Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
    • Once you have received your Certificate of Eligibility please send a copy to [email protected]

GI Bill® Benefits used at another Institution & Transfer of Entitlement

If you have applied to use your VA Education Benefits before and used them at another school you must complete a Change of Program or Place of Training form. Once you have completed the form and submitted it to the VA a copy of the form and a copy of your most recent Certificate of Eligibility must be sent to [email protected]. These forms are required to be submitted in order to start using your VA Benefits at Averett.
