Averett University Marketing and Communications

Averett University’s Office of Marketing and Communications helps communicate with the general public by working with news media, and by providing other marketing and communications services. The office falls under the University’s Institutional Advancement department.

Members of the media should call or email our staff during and outside of regular business hours. All media requests should go through our staff, as we can assist with emergency requests or assist reporters with an immediate deadline.

  • Averett Magazine – Averett’s Office of Marketing and Communications writes and designs the annual Averett Magazine, as well as a number of other major publications for the University. View the 2019 Averett Magazine here.
  • The Chanticleer ( – The Chanticleer is Averett’s Student Newspaper and serves as a source of information for the traditional program students, faculty and staff of Averett University. The first issue of The Chanticleer was published in 1922. The Chanticleer was distributed primarily as a printed publication until 2019 when it was transitioned to an online magazine.
