Campus Safety at Averett University
Keeping our students, faculty and staff safe is a top priority at Averett University. Our Campus Security Department works around the clock to ensure that we have a peaceful learning community and deal quickly and professionally with any emergencies that arise. We have a partnership with the Danville Police Department (DPD) that enhances our ability to address security issues right away.
On Main Campus, we are available 24/7. Our typical response time is 2-3 minutes, and you can find emergency contact information posted in all Main Campus buildings.
North Campus is monitored by closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) and an intrusion alarm system in conjunction with members of Averett’s Athletics and Facility departments.
In the unlikely event of a major crime or emergency, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to dial 911 directly.

Sex Offender Registration
Sex offenders are required to register with the state police in the state they reside and provide notice to each higher education institution in that state at which the person is employed, carries a vocation, or is a student. In Virginia, the sex offender registry is available via the internet and may be used only for the purposes of the administration of criminal justice, screening of current or prospective employees and volunteers, or otherwise for the protection of the public, in general, and children, in particular. Use of information in the sex offender registry for the purpose of intimidating or harassing another is an unlawful, and a willful violation is punishable as a Class 1 misdemeanor. The Virginia State Police maintain the Commonwealth’s registry: https://www.vspsor.com/.
