Averett University’s softball program was voted 25th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, which was released on Wednesday.

It is the first national ranking for Averett (18-0-1, 8-0 USA South), which cracked the Top 25 this week after receiving a vote in last week’s poll. The Cougars have won 15 in a row, including a 12-8 victory over then-No. 5 Christopher Newport University on March 2.

“I’m very proud of our team and what we’ve accomplished so far this season,” fifth-year coach Bren Taylor said. “Being ranked is a great honor, but we know we still have a lot of work ahead of us.”
