Averett University to Host MLK Day Events for the Danville Community

Posted on January 8th, 2018 by Danielle Staub

As we look forward to the weekend and Martin Luther King Jr Day, Averett is partnering with local organizations to host two events in the Danville area. Both of these events are open to all members of the community and we would love for you to join us!

The Center for Community Engagement & Career Competitiveness (CCECC) at Averett University and Riverview Rotary are partnering to lead AMERICA’S SUNDAY SUPPER: LET’S BE COLOR BRAVE on Sunday, Jan. 14, from 4-6 p.m. The event will be held at Cottontail Weddings & Events, 600 Craghead Street.

America’s Sunday Supper is inspired by Dr. King’s vision of people of diverse backgrounds interacting on personal levels. This event encourages people to share a meal and discuss issues that affect their communities. By hosting a Sunday Supper in the Dan River Region, we hope to create a safe environment for people to learn from and about one another. For this year’s supper, Dr. Monica Motley will serve as the host, and the whole community is invited. Please RSVP on www.serve365.org here: http://www.serve365.org/event/detail/?event_id=42882.

On Monday, Jan. 15, Averett is partnering with God’s Storehouse for a MLK Day of Service. Students, faculty and staff will be volunteering from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. To do so, please sign up on www.serve365.org here: http://www.serve365.org/aem/general/event/?doc_id=4696.
