Are you too busy during the week? Do you travel for work or do the kids have activities after school that keeps your schedule packed but you still want to complete your degree or advance your career with a master’s? Averett University’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program wants to help.

The University’s GPS program is now offering Friday night classes for its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program starting December 4, January 8, 2018 and January 26, 2018.

“In July 2016, we implemented our new, innovative Cougar Connect video-conferencing modality to continue to serve our population of students who wish to obtain their degrees in a classroom setting,” said Melissa Anderson, director of GPS admissions. “While many institutions around Virginia have closed their campuses, we continue to adapt and look for ways to ensure we continue offering access to this important option for current and prospective Averett students.”

Averett’s GPS staff has worked quickly to maximize the Cougar Connect class opportunities such as expanding classroom sites to serve more adult students and now, a new night of the week.

“We are always trying something new and bold here at Averett, and in our planning for the expansion of Cougar Connect and in hearing feedback from current and prospective students, we determined that offering a Friday Night MBA for our students would be a great option for those busy adults who travel for work during the week or those who may not want to miss their children’s soccer practices or dance recitals. It is essentially a ‘night out’ for our adult students, but one that gives them the opportunity to focus on themselves, and most importantly, their education and future,” Anderson said.

Anderson says they want to make going back to school as much fun as possible. So, adding a “party theme” to the new classes, is making getting a degree a little more fun, especially when thinking of taking classes on a Friday night. The word is spreading and the program is already getting positive feedback.

“So far, the reception has been incredibly positive as we already have a handful of applicants, and we just announced this new option last week,” said Anderson.
